Organic Food Depot

The Organic Food Depot, established over 20 years ago, is a natural food supplier based in Virginia.
The Depot consists of one farm in Virginia Beach (which received organic certification in 1996) and three stores, all also based in Virginia, which sell a lot of the farm's produce.
Since the stores opened, the farm is no longer the company's base operation and it is now closed to the public; their main office is now located at their Virginia Beach store on 4301 Commuter Drive.
All three Depot stores are open from Monday to Thursday (10am - 7am), Friday (10am - 8pm), and Saturday and Sunday (10am - 6pm).
                                              Reasons for Establishment
The owners of Organic Food Depot started the company for three reasons.
Firstly, they wanted people to be able to purchase whole and organic food at lower prices. Secondly, they wanted to make those products available to as many people as possible.
And thirdly, they desired to support a community of people whom have a similar interest in natural agricultural practices. It was clear to the owners that many grocery stores, local or otherwise, were uninterested in selling a large selection of natural foods at all, let alone at affordable prices. Moreover, the owners of the Depot understood that the few organic grocers out there sold their organic produce at prices that were far too high for most Americans, which prevented them from having regular access to proper, nutritious food.
Another reason why the owners started the Depot was because they understood that there was a certain confusion, even 'resistance', affecting prospect consumers of natural products. For example, many people weren't sure if they had to 'become' something they are not (such as a vegetarian or vegan, or raw foodist) to join the natural lifestyle, or become accepted by its community.
Of course, these assumptions are untrue, and the owners wanted to dispel them.
                                            Products
The Organic Food Depot specializes in organic food and natural health products. Its departments include a grocery, a frozen section, bulk, supplements, books, perishable, and personal care, and it sells many products that are low carb, or free of dairy, wheat, gluten, and yeast. Some of the fruits and vegetables it sells include apples, celery, dandelion, blueberries, eggplant, fennel, ginger, grapefruit, lemons, lettuce, mushroom, potatoes, radish, okra, salads, squash, and yams.
The Depot's vendors (over 6000 to date) are hand-picked, and only accepted if the products they sell promote wellness and health. Some of the better-known vendors linked to the Depot include the Natural Living Warehouse, Advanced Nutritional Innovation, as well as numerous farms, both local to the Virginia area, and beyond.
